Abstract:

 Background: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from dairy sources are known to produce bacteriocins with promising antimicrobial properties. The variations in their preservative effectiveness and stability under different environ- mental conditions create a gap in knowledge. Background: Opportunistic fungal infections have been implicated among patients with tuberculosis (TB). Coexistence of pulmonary mycoses and pulmonary TB is of public health concern as they exhibit similar clinical manifestations among infected patients, which contributes to increased misdiagnosis and makes management difficult, especially in TB-prone regions like Kano, Nigeria. Background: Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a major cause of chronic liver disease worldwide and remains a significant contributor to liver-related morbidity and mortality. Hepatic fibrosis is the key determinant of long-term clinical outcomes. Although viral replication is central to HCV pathogenesis, the association between serum HCV load and the severity of hepatic fibrosis remain controversial. Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasingly recognized as a global public health problem. CKD patients are prone to comorbidities, such as diabetes mellitus, urinary tract infection (UTI), hypertension, immunesuppression, anaemia, malnutrition, inflammation, and vitamin deficiencies. However, UTI is known to be the most significant cause of morbidity and mortality in CKD patients.
